potential newbie... but I know that it's going through a huuuuuuge change soon and this is the last app round before it does... bad idea, or no?

Personally, I would wait until September when it reopens unless you really want to play with friends there now.

What motivates you suggesting potential appers wait? Anything specific?

the entire game environment is about to change and we don't know to what yet, so unless you're joining for players, you don't even know what you're getting. people also seem pretty focused on their established cr and the plot that's building to the change. i don't think it's a good time for new players to establish themselves, but after the change it will probably be a great time.

Personally I disagree! We don't know how the change will happen except the next two months will probably be plot intense to push it through, and I think getting characters in now so they can be involved in that will be a great way to get established.

If you're interested in the metaplot, this is a great time to app. A lot is happening, so it's easy to plug in without having to fight over scraps of information or limited slots.

Any word on what the change is going to be? I take it no more spaceship but what can we anticipate from the new direction?

No word yet. The organization is on the slow side.

The options are a facility-based setting with asylum-style horror and a planet-based setting with survival-style horror. I would guess that it will be the difference between characters being caught by the people pursuing the ship vs. escaping somewhere on their own. Most people who have discussed it on Plurk have expressed more interest in the planet setting, but we won't know for sure until we vote in July.
