honestly anon i never asked my sister the exact amount she's gained/lost, just going off what I have seen and how she's expressed herself re: her appearance.

my main point which you are losing sight of is that, when she is on treatment for her hormones, all the good healthy actions she does to take care of her body actually works! and when she's not, no matter what she does her body won't let go of a single pound bc her hormones are telling her that she can't afford to lose weight. that's all i meant by including it, more as a general commentary than something specific to this particular individual.

no, they're right. you will lose weight if you are burning more calories than you consume, even if you have a health issue that makes it more difficult for you to lose weight.

i have hypothyroidism so it's much harder for me to lose weight than someone with a healthy thyroid. when i got really sick with stomach problems for three months, i still lost a lot of weight because i wasn't eating much. that's just how it works.

Eh, it's more complicated than that. It's not just about burning calories and most doctors will actually recommend against counting calories because it's a lot more complicated process than "burn off more than you consume."

and my main point is that even hormones are not going to make you gain that much weight. they will not magically make you go from being a healthy weight to being obese. overweight? sure. but obese? no.
