how do people feel about an action/adventure game revolving around an empire/institution set on the betterment of lives across universes, a euphemism for colonizing worlds and harnessing resources for the motherland? the empire does do good things like bringing aid and teaching the colonies a thing or two, so it'll be kept morally ambiguous.

characters would be brought in by the empire to meet various talent gaps (from mopping floors to battle strategy to building a plumbing system), but there's a rebel group too who regularly disrupts the recruitment process and kidnaps some characters to force them to fight on their side. characters can be working willingly for the empire, secretly rebellious against the empire while working for them or they can be gung-ho members of the rebel group or secretly spying on the rebel group while trying to find a way back to serve the empire (and maybe go home!)

the setting would change from world to world, possibly every few months. the only snag i can think of is how to allow those working for the rebel group to still meet and develop CR with those working for the empire. i don't want it to feel like they can't even interact with each other but I don't know how I'd do this.

you had me at action/adventure

the premise sounds good, but i really wish there was something like this that wasn't intended to be eachdraidh or cdc scale and either didn't have a test drive or had a soft opening and really low, limited reserves for a while and with a less intense, pound it all out as quickly as possible setting. weekdays i usually only get an hour or three to rp and i just can't keep up with the bigger, faster games. especially when other players' time zones come into play. :(

Have the rebel group be more of an underground organization. So they live in the empire as well as perfectly normal citizens. If the rebels are good enough to be able to disrupt without the empire being aware of it (maybe they have a spy among the people who do the kidnapping) that would be pretty easy. There could be rebel camps as well but the characters mostly get brought in as spies.

i'd play in a game like this in a heartbeat oh man

couldn't that just be an easy fix via the comm? treat the whole empire thing as a "dayjob"-type deal and allow characters the opportunity to interact with possible interaction with other characters during their offtime.

alternatively, maybe just discourage their CR at all? unless they're infiltrating the empire or undercover or something. makes rivalries and such more believable from a character standpoint
