rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Does anyone else ever feel somewhat guilty when they come up with new stuff for their OCs as they go along playing them? I always worry that someone will call me out on stuff I didn't include in my app or have in my journal, which feels silly because even people who play fandom characters come up with random headcanon.

I don't, mainly because I doubt anyone but me is scrutinizing my OC. Plus, no one includes all the information ever about their character, so...you're right, it is silly.

why should you? people here play from unfinished canons that reveal new things about their characters all the time. continuing to develop backstory, bit facts and plot for them is no different. as long as you aren't altering the character's personality or anything like that from the canon point you've chosen, you're fine.

That's a very solid point, anon. Thanks! I didn't think about it that way but I feel better about it now.

I think that's just par for the course when it comes to playing characters, OCs especially. I do kind of feel bad about it, but it helps if I keep a journal entry about all the character's current information, since most people don't like when you edit the app.

sometimes but only a bit. Coming up with new stuff is my favourite part about OCs. It's not about changing who they are but adding to their story.
