do you ever end up tweaking your OC's personality and/or mannerisms to match their icons? I'm curious since I'm sketching out a set for a new OC right now, and when expressions don't turn out quite how I saw them in my head I'm altering the character just slightly to fit. tell me about how your OCs have changed due to your icon choices, nonnies.

Once, off the top of my head. The near-perfect PB I found's expressions were more subdued than I imagined for my character, so I just shifted the intensity of their emotions into their actions rather than their face.

if i don't have the right icon for the expression i'm going for, i explain it in more detail than usual in my actual tag. no need to compromise personality/mannerisms just because of an icon.

I did that only a few days ago, anon. I've had this OC for something like six years, and I had the feeling that he needed an update, so I found a face claim -- and after that, his personality seemed to shift a fair bit. It was definitely a positive change, though. I was not playing him anywhere, and I had a feeling that his mannerisms were 'off' somehow.
