You're all idiots except for me

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

I've been following black rights activists on twitter since Mike Brown's murder and I would say the more prominent voices on there are advocating for peaceful protest but aren't condemning violent protests. People are saying it ad nauseam but it's true "Broken spines are more important than broken windows."

This interview is pretty on point with everything. I like to use it as a way of showing people how media is used to change perception and direct people's sympathies away from the black lives matter movement.
http://youtu.be/NyYdKD0af78 It's hilarious how desperately the interviewer wants him to say the protesters are out of line and are horrible people and is so actively avoiding discussing police brutality.

violent protests are awful, though. like, they're wrong to do. end of discussion.

as a white person i really can't comment on that because i'm not harbouring the fear, anger, and outrage that the protesters are feeling. clearly everything they've done up until now hasn't worked so

im not saying it isn't understandable that it's happening. just because something is understandable doesn't make it okay.

what the police are doing and getting away with is even less okay. no violent protests aren't okay or idea but sometimes they're the only thing that works. property can be replaced, lived cannot

i would have respect for violent protesters if they only targeted the police they were protesting against instead of also causing collateral damage. but fuck poor people i guess

+1

so by that logic it's okay to drop tear gas grenades because sometimes they're the only things that work and they aren't permanent.

it's really easy to say that when the circumstances don't directly impact you, isn't it

nice assumption.
