You're all idiots except for me

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

orrrrr, depending on the thing they're calling themselves trash for, it's a self-aware jab at a hobby or interest that might border on weird or obsessive if taken out of context...

example: "i am pathetically obsessed with this problematic shota ship i'm trash garbage" vs "i am pathetically obsessed with this problematic shota ship let me gush about it over and over until people start getting uncomfortable with my lack of self-awareness"

the first one acknowledges the thing as definitely being strange and uncomfortable and they realize it's strange and uncomfortable. the second does not and borders on That Maraich territory of obsession where there's no distinction of if they enjoy something enthusiastically or are turning into a creepy soulbonder.

is one better than the other? that depends on your comfort level and what it is, i guess. in my example, both can be pretty fucking weird, imo, since shota isn't my thing. but some people might be more comfortable around one person vs the other if they're self-depreciating about the strange things they enjoy. it's like a security net. you're self-aware enough to realize the thing is weird because you're not developmentally challenged or super awkward like a 15 year old girl with a yaoi paddle at an anime convention, wondering why people are staring when you're harping about your hetalia ship and buying r-18 doujinshi with your fake ID.
