You're all idiots except for me

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

nerfing powers is a double edged sword. on the one hand, yeah, it kind of neuters powered characters. on the other hand, it makes playing "normal" characters kind of a pain in the ass, since there's the potential to get steamrolled by powered plot-hogs.

i play a lot of guys with powers and a lot of mundane characters, so i understand both sides. i have yet to figure out a happy medium (i'm not really into "give mundane characters powers" either) except for, like, hoping that powered characters won't be assholes and will share the spotlight. but ymmv on that.

minor nerfing would be fine if characters had the chance of icly regaining their abilities. having powers doesn't always mean a character will steamroll a plot (look at lock who does that no matter who she plays) it's a player-level concern.

i'm just so tired of dealing with the "everyone is human lol" trope. it feels like mods don't want to even try with applications anymore.

no, yeah, i feel you. i don't app into games where powers are stripped completely because it's just so fucking lazy.

i guess we (mods) just need to be more trusting that powered players won't be assholes? or more willing to bring the hammer down on people who are assholes about it, lol.

bringing the hammer down on people who are assholes and maybe mixing up the kinds of plots so not everything can be solved by hitting it harder than everyone else
