Congratsulations, you're such an asset

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

I'm on a similar timeline as you, and it's not that they're unwelcoming as much as it's just that, as you point out, the overwhelming majority of players are lazy, bland, flakey, and couldn't RP their way out of a paper bag. I think the players are plenty welcoming, I just don't know why anyone would willingly subject themselves to some of these personalities and play styles.

You could probably get tons of threads of the same old mundane bullshit with the occasional crack thread but god forbid any of the players actually write or do anything interesting and creative with the open-ended setting they've been given. See last year's island plot which people begged for and then proceeded to do absolutely nothing with, or attempts to revitalize the game with a setting change which was only complained about.

The mod post just makes me feel sad, not for the players, but for the mods. They're trying to let go of something that they've undoubtedly been dragging on past it's prime and their entire playerbase is acting like ungrateful little tits that can't fathom the idea of someone else not wanting to maintain their little space so they can play the one millionth same thread of their stupid bland samey shit once again which is easily done in a musebox.

+1

these are exactly all my thoughts

players are actually nice and welcoming but in my time in smash, have done absolutely nothing engaging or creative with the open-ended setting here to reflect that in-character or in-game. smash is unique in that it is so free form, has so much potential with all the nexus world hopping, and it's completely wasted with the majority of the uncreative lazy boring players here who only put their quarter into "dance log #76" or "attempted action plot that gets flaked out on and dropped after a week in favor of dance log #76".

if i was a mod i would have been frustrated to the point of quitting years ago tbh.
