Subthread for tea philistines

aka those of us who drink bagged tea (gasp!) or even stuff you can buy in a regular supermarket (shock horror!!!)

Not that I don't like fancy loose leaf, but there are no local stores where I could physically look at/try stuff and also I'm poor ::(

So what are everyone's favorite pedestrian bagged teas? I like anything by Twinings, and Tazo's (the Starbucks brand) aren't bad. I love their holiday Joy tea, that shit is like crack.

Yeah, I had a employee discount for a while, hence how I could swing loose leaf teas. That job didn't last long (someone stole shit shortly after I was hired, I had a funeral cross-country and airplane tickets as proof so they didn't suspect me but shit was awkward after that for a real long time until I quit) but it was sweet while it did.

I guess any recs I'd have would depend on where you're from and the type of tea you drink, too. Like in my hometown there's an Asian supermarket every five steps and that's where I got my green teas from. Which isn't too helpful, I know, but still.

Otherwise, agreed on Tazo's being alright.

I can only really get loose tea when out of state. I hoard it hard, but the rest of the time, I'm bagged.

Twinings has a very nice Lady Earl Grey blend that's nice. I also like Bigelow, but ONLY for black teas. Celestial Seasonings has the best Chamomile blend I've tastes: Sleepytime with Vanilla.

yeah Bigelow are pretty okay, though I'm iffy on their interpretation of Earl Grey sometimes. But I really love their signature Constant Comment.

Weirdly, I also thought their oolong was pretty good when I got to try it once.

The Mint Green Tea I mentioned above is actually made by Twinings and I keep hearing good things about honeybush and lavender from them! ^_^

Don't know about honeybush ahd lavender, but I did have a box of their straight rooibos once and it wasn't bad. I'm not so much into rooibos but wiht a dollop of honey it was pretty rich and desserty and made a good treat.

I don't think I've seen that one around but if I see it I'll have to give it a go. I'm a sucker for sweet teas.

If you like really sweet things, Yogi's licorice might be your thing. It doesn't need sugar, that's for sure.

I usually only drink bagged tea when it's a gift but I recently picked up some of Celestial Seasonings' Candy Cane Lane after some recommendations and it is wonderful.

This is me, I enjoy tea, but I only drink it on cold days or when I'm sick. I'm not dedicated enough to keep loose leaf around or go to special markets for it.

I'll drink lipton too even if it's not my first choice, judge away. :D
