FFVIII AU IDEA

Once upon a time I had an idea. To mix elements of Sky Tides with FFVIII. Then Witches Reign came and although it wasn't the same concept I didn't want to step on any toes and look like I was trying to compete.

Well now that RPing is moving to DW I'd like to see if there's any interest. Basically it's based in an AU of the FFVIII world. There are SeeDs and cadets and so forth and there are multiple Gardens people are assigned to (much like they were in Sky Tides on the ships). Most would start off as Cadets and work their way up over time. There would be wars and serious events but also fun cracky events to lighten the mood so it's not always srs bsns.

Since it would be AU I'd feel it'd give me more freedom to be creative. Making the world bigger etc so it's not just based on strict FFVIII world alone. That and it would allow for FFVIII characters to be app'd without worry of timeline problems (if I set it OU and it was set in the future for example) I also think it would allow me to add extra Gardens than the three available from the game.

The only thing that worries me is AU puts people off. So I was thinking I could either stick to all characters being AU and needing an AU history. Or just have the world be AU and have characters come in as OU only.

Of course I can't think of any AU games that are still around (correct me if I'm wrong!) so it might be nice for people who enjoy AU.

Obviously there's more to the idea but that's the general basics I guess. :) It's late here so I'm just typing as it comes to me.

There's always the option of allowing both AUs and OUs.
