That doesn't really make me feel any better about wanting to play a canon character in a game based off that character's canon, yet not being able to get their canon title.

Blar ok I wasn't going to reply to anything else on here, but I felt like I ought to address this because there seems to be a misunderstanding here? Because basically it's explained pretty early in the FAQ that any 'canon' Homestuck characters at Jarjammed have to be at least a little bit AU, because no characters are allowed to have been touched by Sburb, as it were, prior to entering the RP. It's not like they're being brought in from their canon Sburb/Sgrub session and suddenly assigned a different title to the one they already had -- their role and ultimate destiny in relation to this session isn't the same as in canon, so if anything I feel like it makes the most sense for their titles to be different.

Which, not everybody is going to be on board with that? That's not what everyone is going to want from a panfandom Sburb RP. Like, I imagine one could also make one where the plot involved a bunch of somehow mysteriously interlinked sessions where it was all of the characters from other canons who were AU'd into being ectocloned meteor babies and each canon had its own session and dang that would be really complicated but if someone could figure out a way to make that work, it could be really, really cool. Someone should do that. Anyway, uh, I digress, what I mean to say is that not every RP is going to meet the preferences of every potential player and that's OK, and I'm sorry that this one isn't what you're looking for.

The thing is that a Sburb-based game, or in general a game set in the Homestuck universe, totally is what I'm looking for? I just wish that I could play my canon character in a canon way.

Mod flat-out explained why they don't think it's necessarily OOC for a character to have a different title. Replying with "I wish I could play my canon character in a canon way" is passive-aggressive and douchey.

How is it passive-aggressive to straightforwardly state my personal desire with absolutely no insults or whatever involved? I guess I could've written them an essay but who wants to read that?

And I get that, but what I'm saying is that just because there aren't any other Sburb RPs (so far!) doesn't mean we're under any obligation to make our Sburb RP the exact Sburb RP everybody who has ever wanted a Sburb RP wants to app at? I get that it's a disappointment when something that looks like it might be something you've wanted for a while turns out not to meet your exact requirements, but ... that doesn't mean it's our job to be what everybody wants :(

I'm sorry that I'm apparently coming off in a frustrating way; I'm just kind of sad and it seems a little unfair. Maybe you could consider advertising the game as all-AU with respect to canon? That seems like it would be more up-front.

Well, we haven't really been advertising the game at all? I linked to it on my friends-only plurk, that is about it... And, I mean, this issue is like the third point addressed in the FAQ, I'm not sure how more up-front it can get. I'm also not really sure how it's unfair except in that it's not what you wanted – and, like I said, I'm sorry about that! Hopefully at some point someone will make a Homestuck game that works more in line with what you're looking for?

I'm not big on the how you guys are handling titles, but I can understand your stance/where you're coming from, and I do like how you've made the game. I really do wish you guys the best of luck and I hope you don't get wanked on for this, because it's a difficult subject to handle.

Thanks, anon. The title arrangement isn't ideal, I will admit, especially with the huge number of reserves. I think how unprepared we were kind of shows u__u I'm hoping we can find more manageable approaches to stuff in the future.
