Between the staff's total ignorance of what the english userbase wants from them and the absolute disregard for people's privacy + the glitchiness of things as they've been for the past few months + the inability to stick with a layout that we're comfortable with, the whole thing just reeks of Facebook-brand "fix what ain't broke"-ness, only with a much more self-righteous "we're your Russian Gods" sense of haughtiness.

I'm just incredibly displeased. And Dreamwidth's maintainers are being very, very kind and understanding right now, which I really appreciate.

Right now, DreamWidth is more LiveJournal than LiveJournal is ever going to be again.

Sure, the custom comment pages are okay for now, but that is also on the list for renovation. The entire site is moving in a completely different direction, and LiveJournal doesn't care about its Paid users because the money they get from Plus account ad-views is more profitable than paying for a Paid account. They have no reason to listen to our complaints because as long as we are still using that venue, they are still making money. In fact, refusing to buy Paid accounts is just giving them more money.

There was a link somewhere with a prototype for an overhaul of the entire LJ site, not just the comment pages. This is not something they are going to back out of. It's only going to get worse from here, and they don't need or care about our consent.

We should start making the move now before things get even worse.

I know. I saw that link, and it looked absolutely horrible. Within a year, I don't think LJ will be suitable for RP needs anymore. I can definitely understand people not wanting to waste their money, but in the long run, I think it would cost less to give up the $20 or so that they spent on paid time and make the move to DW than it would to have to deal with LJ re-vamping things that don't need it and having to deal with downtime and DDoS attacks and things like that.
