i am kind of going :< at them bringing this up on plurk, not because i don't want to move (i only use lj for rps now so if one moves i will move with it), but because i don't have a plurk so it kind of seems like they...don't care about their whole player base, just their plurk friends. like, they say over and over again in the comments or whatever in that plurk you linked that this isn't any official announcement they just wanted to "let people know" so...why not just "let people know" in cfo? it's not like that comm is only for super srs announcements so...

idk it just kind of rubbed me the wrong way /whining

I think the plan was, from looking at the plurk, for stuff to get spread around secondhand anyway BECAUSE enough people have plurk and it's an easy way to make some noise without saying anything official/get too many concerned comments on CFO without having anything solid planned TBH. I do get how you guys might be feeling put out about it though, but it's essentially the same as if a mod used their personal LJ to tell their F-List publicly stuff is being talked over if they're concerned/want to spread the word.

and putting it on a personal journal would be just as bad, for me. if you want to assuage your playerbase, address them all not just your besties and then hope it spreads

you're not the only one who feels that way and I do have a plurk. I just didn't have that particular person on my plurk list. I don't think they meant for it to come across that way but because of plurk's nature, it does.

that said, I think a move to DW has the potential to be good and I appreciate that they've already started talking to the DW admins. (CFUD did break LJ before, so breaking DW is not something I want)

they also let people know on cfo in a locked post that went up. It is not a mod post, but they commented on it.

I wouldn't assume the mods "don't care" when they're great mods who clearly do care, so it does sound like you are whining a little. It's ok to be rubbed the wrong way but I wouldn't accuse them of not caring

I'm not a fan of plurk and I don't like having information of interest to me being on there either, so I do find it a little annoying. I have a lot of faith in CFUD's mods though and I don't really see it as a snub, intentional or otherwise. It looks like it honestly just started as a couple people seeing their friends on plurk being concerned and posting to reassure them, as a friend.

...Of course the plurk wouldn't have taken off the way it did if they'd said something on CFO or something. I can understand not wanting to make an official statement of something so new and uncertain, but it seems a little silly to delay mentioning the issue at all when people are freaking out all over livejournal! Like, it seems obvious to me that it was gonna come up, but I guess hindsight is 20/20 and all that.

It wasn't meant to be an official announcement, from what I saw, and a lot of people were expressing worries about it on plurk. It seems reasonable to me that it was addressed on plurk because that's where they saw worries coming from, and I'm sure they didn't intend to leave anyone out. There are a few users who can't get only livejournal right now because of the bugs, so they wouldn't have been able to see a cfo post. iirc there was a cfo post put up by a player as well that the mods commented upon. So while in hindsight it seems as if it might have been better to throw up a cfo post, I'm sure they didn't intentionally mean to leave anyone out and it was simply an update to let the playerbase know that the mods were discussing things.
