TL;DR PERCY JACKSON/GREEK MYTH BASED GAME

[personal profile] creatively 2012-01-02 12:22 pm (UTC)(link)
The idea for this game is based off Percy Jackson and the Olympians/The Heroes of Olympus series. For this, it would sort of be like Soul Campaign, Asgard, and Zodion for the style of the series. Basically this is the general run down:

Characters would find themselves on the outskirts of a camp that only people like themselves can see or enter—what they are is demigods. Old abilities, or lack thereof, are stripped and new ones are in place. Some are actual abilities while others are intuitiveness to certain things—Ares kids will like fighting and be a little stronger than others, Athena’s have startling memory, Aphrodite’s can sometimes charmspeak, Poseidon’s can control the water, etc. But they’re also sort of “super human” in regeneration if they use God food and have… ADHD and dyslexia which are their abilities of battle ready instincts and being able to read ancient Greek. Structurally, the gods are going to call and treat these new campers their children, but the characters will remember their pasts so it’s not an AU in that regard and some events may allow them access to old powers and lose demigod ones.

The general plotline would sort of go AU with the first series in being the summer of the second war with the Titan’s. It would loosely revolve around it as not to pertain to the prophecy in order to allow canon characters to join in. This would mean attacks are frequented on that camp and campers will sometimes leave on a mission outside to destroy monsters, giving the overarching plot being to stop the titan’s from trying to rise (again).

Event wise, aside from the plot, there’s also things that happen in Camp: canonically the gods can curse other houses. Apollo makes the Ares’ kids rhyme for a day. So the Gods can play with the characters if a certain house upsets them and/or they think they need to teach the heroes a lesson. Even Athena was petty enough to curse all flute players and turn Archane into a spider, so there’s no fear in certain gods not performing curses. There’s also Camp wide games such as Capture the Flag and Chariot Races that might be fun to play out every once and a while as well as training sessions (the latter being organized by cabin councilors). Also after large events/their kids do something great the gods may gift the characters. This won’t be all the time and it’d have to be important, but is possible to happen.

A thing I’m iffy on is the housing set-up and how it would best be done. I’m wanting to leave the gods to their Greek sides and only wanting to put at most the ones Riordan mentions in, but am leaning more towards the Olympians than the full 20 he has. Housing wise I’m going strictly with Camp Halfblood’s way and the characters will be put into the Hermes’ cabin as an “undetermined” demigod, unknown parentage, until they receive a sign from their parents—normally their symbol glowing over the character’s head. Who their parents are will depend on the mun and who they best see the character’s fit in—please note: Hera, Poseidon, Zeus, Artemis, and Hades are considered off limits for Godly parents. Poseidon, Zeus, and Hades are optional to change depending… but Hera and Artemis do not have children.

Once their godly parent is determined they will be shoved into their house with their “siblings”. When this is determined can be up to the mun as the gods have yet to promise to acknowledge all of their children. It can be upon immediate arrival at camp, a few weeks in, or never. Preferably not the latter for simplicities sake, however. For the most part they will do everything with their siblings: eat, sleep, train, and play camp games with them. Optionally, I was thinking as an extra element of CR building with the war effort going on they can form groups for missions in game they also would train with—sort of like the cohorts at the Roman camp—if anyone thinks this would be a good idea?

That’s basically it in a condensed manner. I want to make it as open as possible, of course, and all the gods will be based off of Riordan’s interpretation as to give a complete idea.

more logistics

+No devices will be had, but IMs--iris messages could be used, this would mean visual/audio only function. Another method can be developed later in the game.
+Community based most likely
+God curses won't happen all the time, the game will be more plot drive/goal orientated. However they will happen and may likely sometimes to be silly-- ie, poetry or Hera sending cows around to bother you. They can be dangerous, like Dionysus trying to strangle you with grapevines.

+Gods, Monsters, Titans, and other notable figures (ie Chiron, Argus) will be NPC'ed unless there is player interest and then strict rules/apping will apply.
