any good casts around? i feel like it's been forever since i've seen a decent sized or quality one ):

i've seen a couple start to pop up recently that might grow. there's a new luffy floating around at some games (haven and i can't remember the other one) who seems good and manages to pick up castmates (or zoro and sanji at least) wherever he goes. though the zoro player from wake is following him around, which...idk. and then wake has a handful but super mediocre. high seas has a lot of one piece characters but i doubt most of them qualify as quality either. i peek in on them for the zoro/sanji sometimes, so if that's a pairing you like then there you go.

my heart for an usopp or chopper or franky. does no one play them anymore? i think i've seen one or two namis around. and robin sometimes.

WOW I don't even pay attention to these things but a helpful person linked me to this.

a.) I'm flattered to be thought of as 'good', there is always always always room for improvement so PLEASE TOUCH MY HMD OFTEN, OBI WAN OP ROLEPLAYERS, YOU'RE MY ONLY HOPE.

b.) Haven has a growing cast (though it grieves me to suspect we've lost Nami already) and more importantly the player base at the game itself is very welcoming. I originally went to Haven because their Law is played by a fabulous person for whom I have an enormous amount of respect. A cast springing up was entirely accidental but our intention of integrating thoroughly with cross fandom CR is still very much alive and well and a priority.

c.) I WOULD GIVE ANYTHING. ANYTHING. FOR USOPP, CHOPPER, FRANKY, BROOK OR ROBIN. They are so under-represented and it's shocking because they are such great, great characters with a lot of universal appeal. Yeah, I'm shamelessly groveling for these wonderful, perfect, magnificent creatures because my RP life is not complete without them.

wow there are some suuuuper annoying know-it-all one piecers on plurk like idgaf if you know every frickin detail of this 800 chapter series can you stop correcting everyone all over the place ffs.

Man anon do I feel you, I run into something similar except it just reminds me of what a bad fan I am. I am so obviously not interested in nitpicky details I even get years of my own character's timeline wrong on a regular basis.

So then I sit there feeling awkward as fuck while the debating heats up and I'm like

'but all i wanted was to talk about rp plans...'

But I get it. People get really excited about this stuff but all I wanna do is play, sob.

no see you probably just attracted some of the elitist snobby types who think that because they know random unimportant details a, b, c and d it means they're bigger and better fans when in fact nobody gives a shit and how about you just participate in the conversation with actual relevant things instead of imposing your unwanted nitpicks on everyone. at least it's almost funny when they insist some minor obscure trivia is true when it turns out it's actually not. being excited is cool, being obnoxious isn't.

I JUST WANT TO PLAY... And share in the excitement of having pretendy fun times with other people who are excited about pretendy fun times.

Though tbf it's the fans who are really detail-oriented who also happen to be a good resource when I need pointers on how to play better, too. And I always need pointers. I'm really sorry though, it sounds like this has happened to you a bunch of times when you don't have the option to just fade into the background or exit quietly from the conversation.

tl;dr Shit sucks everyone should play nice and be okay with other people not knowing a million things about a million fandoms

Drive-by comment to say: I'm sorry you've had to deal with such nitpicky fans, anon! In my experience, OP has primarily two sides to its fandom: the pretty chill and relaxed side, and then the side you described - which, while not inherently bad imo, can send some exclusionary vibes towards other peeps.

If you were thinking about playing from OP, don't let a couple jerks discourage you! I'd love to see more One Piece characters out there, and who knows, you might fall into the chill side of the OP RP world.

No problem, 'non! I totally get where you're coming from, heh. Obscure trivia/miniscule facts can be fun, but everything in moderation.
