the sex scenes in nty basically have the usual bl game bullshit ("he raped him but he felt bad about it, really!", etc) it's just that this time the protagonist is the one behind it instead of the love interest(s) with extra focus on the porn

why are you surprised by this? everything good_haro's ever translated (even before she was hired on as an actual translator) has been rape porn

she used to post in the visual novel thread there a lot, and she always got really mad about rape scenes in straight VNs while defending the ones in yaoi VNs as 'not as bad, since men are the victims.'

When people called her out, she stopped posting entirely.

I tried digging around the forums a bit and these are the only posts of hers I could find about VN rape. Did the VN thread on SA get deleted entirely?

threads on SA don't get deleted, they either get moved into the gas chamber or fall into the archives

The rape scenes in VNs like F/S are shit, but I kind of wonder how she would react if MG had her translate a Rejet game like Black Wolves Saga or Dot Kareshi. Rejet has a huge thing for including love interests who are anything but sweethearts in their stuff.

Has she said anything about Rejet?

I guess you could, but it wouldn't excuse it imo, and I think the actual game does a better job explicitly at handling the issue of rape.

...If the writer focuses more on writing out the porn instead of the emotions involved during a rape scene (I'm mainly looking at you Kouichi route as a whole), then that usually gives me the impression they either want the player to get off on the rape scene. If they wanted me to feel horrified by the rape, then they have missed the mark. Saying Haru "always feels bad about [committing rape]" doesn't mean shit.

And this is coming from someone who normally loves well-written (key word is well-written) fucked-up/toxic characters including abusive assholes, rapists, etc. Haru in this case is not an example of a well-written fucked-up character.

like, i get why you'd be disappointed there's any rape at all

but i'm pretty sure there's not a single r18 bl game out there with no rape in it. at least here it's supposed to be a bad thing, not just another way of the seme expressing his ~love~, which (sadly) makes it better than most.

not really

the amount of dub/non-con in nty is around the same as the ones in your average BL game. it's just that this time the roles in the h scenes are reversed with the protagonist "taking the lead" instead of the love interests.

The porn that happens in NTY is more or less standard BL fare. I know it's one of the few BL games that got an official translation and the translator talked the game up a lot, but that doesn't automatically make the game "better" compared to other BL.
