I'm an anon who has been watching the anime, never read the manga and this week's episode with Alessi made me real uncomfortable. :/ I thought the one with Mariah was a bit eyebrow raising too but does it get worse than this? It feels kinda cheap and I really want to see crusaders to the end but I am getting more and more uncomfortable with these new Stand users.

Alessi's episodes/chapters are meant to be creepy/unsettling in the same way Mariah's episodes/chapters are meant to be an amusing break from the doom and intensity of other episodes (same with episodes involving Oingo and/or Boingo). If it makes you feel any better, the series normalizes from this point on, at least until the end of Stardust Crusaders. But no, the horror/goofy elements are not standard for the series. It's something Araki uses for the sake of pacing and keeping the longer sections of the manga from seeming samey.

Thanks for the input, I think I'll stick around with the series then.

Agreed with other Anon, also strongly encourage you to stick it out because some of the best Stand users haven't shown up yet! There's a lot of really fun battles and scenes on their way.

I hated the new episode too. You're not alone, anon.

Alessi and Mariah's fights are sort of exceptions as far as the SC Stand Users go. I can kind of understand someone being uncomfortable with this week's episode, considering the content of it, but after Alessi there's a lot of really cool stand users, so I hope you give it another chance. The fight immediately after Alessi is especially good.

Though I like the actual upcoming fight part of the Alessi encounter, if makes you that uncomfortable, you could actually skip next week's episode and not actually miss anything too important.
