Too slow

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

What kind of setting would you be interested in?

i figure some jamjar setting. nothing au or that would be terrible difficult for the characters to adapt to (like something high-tech or sci-fi).

blights are always a good goal to work toward and not everybody has to be recruited into the wardens (a la dao), but not sure.

my worry with a thedas setting is deciding what choices/actions were taken in the games and if that impacts somebody's character.

Thanks to the In Hushed Whispers plot we can safely say that weirdo time magic is a thing, which would make it easy enough to argue characters can come from splinter timelines so they don't need to comply to choices/actions that would affect their character in a way they don't want to play (like the ones that would make them dead)

Hell, splinter timelines/wonky rift shit could make for an interesting core basis for a game in the first place. There's a lot that could be done with it that DAI didn't have the time/interest to go into.

This is kind of more along the lines I was thinking. I had a thought to begin around the fight with Corypheus or something to explain why various characters had different lives/paths/etc with all the time magic, then battle the big bad, and see where things go. But, that brings up the whole thing of the Divine and I'm not especially interested in having the possibility of forcing a player into that position on the chance a Cassandra, Leliana, or Vivienne were interested in joining.

Then there's also pushing things back further to around IHW so the time magic becomes a thing and the progressing quests in DAI can be "changed" due to player interactions/voting and whatever.

In general, most ideas are pretty loose right now, and I don't know if anything will come of it in the end. Definitely just curious for waging interest.

I'd be interested, especially if alternate timeline versions of the same character could app. That way you don't have a situation where a core of the most popular characters are snapped up immediately and leave people with undesirable fringe choices or a gazillion tiny side characters with barely any canon to go on.

Definitely a possibility, but I think a cap would have to be in place so there aren't a bazillion of one character, either.

Agreed. Too many of one would just get too strange.
