Too slow

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

how the fuck do i start watching this series, it seems like a clusterfuck of nope. i played with a bunch of people from f/z and i'm a sucker for celtic myth but apparently this is not the best place to start?

help a canonblind anon out folks

(Anonymous) 2015-03-01 08:13 pm (UTC)(link)
also canon blind but i was suggested to play/watch the visual novel before touching the anime

(Anonymous) 2015-03-01 08:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. F/Z starts off with some big spoilers for F/SN's routes, since it's mostly written with the expectation that Fate fans have read it first.

You can watch F/Z first but the impact of the spoilers for F/SN will be lessen.

seconding watching f/sn before f/z. the f/sn visual novel is VERY long (f/z not so much) so be prepared if you do decide to read it. i wouldn't say it's absolutely necessary to read them, but like most vn adaptions, the anime is condensed.

tbh i'm going to go against the grain and would suggest to just go ahead and start from f/z if you can't stomach the visual novel. at this point it's a bit dated and it's definitely a very intensive read and if it's not your cup of tea, then i would say to go ahead and start from fate/zero.

you'll end up with some pretty heavy spoilers revealed for f/sn, but the new anime adaption is definitely made in mind as a sequel to f/z, since there things that are carried over or not directly said out loud that won't be noticeable unless you saw zero.

you could also just start with the f/sn anime and just go in blind, then go back to fate/zero after the series ends and they release the movie of the third route.

if you do decide to read/play the vn, i recommend going with this version: http://realtapatch.tumblr.com/

also, i highly recommend avoiding the deen fsn anime and the ubw movie, they're not worth watching

thanks nonnies, i think i'll start from f/z if going with the visual novel goes south.

have fun anon! there's a lot of material but it's a pretty neat series once you get into it.

(Anonymous) 2015-03-04 07:26 pm (UTC)(link)
i'm confused on how to get the visual novels. :( can someone help me?

(Anonymous) 2015-03-02 05:42 pm (UTC)(link)
step 1: download the episodes

step 2: delete the episodes

step 3: find something that isn't a misogynistic and rape aplogizing piece of crap.

+1

i love the premise, but the actual fucking product is awful

(Anonymous) 2015-03-02 07:20 pm (UTC)(link)
you tried

(Anonymous) 2015-03-03 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
you could make this argument for the original game, maybe, but the fate/zero anime... uh, what? since when?

unless you mean dickworms because fuck dickworms, i almost quit on it too due to how unnecessarily gross and exploitative that scene was.

(Anonymous) 2015-03-03 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
kirei cheated on his dieing wife

(Anonymous) 2015-03-03 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
...lmao, that doesn't make the series misogynistic. please tell me that wasn't it.

(Anonymous) 2015-03-03 04:14 am (UTC)(link)
*dying

also, i think you mean kiritsugu

(Anonymous) 2015-03-03 11:29 am (UTC)(link)
... which was fucked up but wasn't rape

(Anonymous) 2015-03-03 12:51 pm (UTC)(link)
one, that's not misogynistic, that's just being an asshole. two, you realize wives can cheat on their husbands too which once again isn't sexism. three, that wasn't kirei. you have to be a troll or you're really this stupid.

(Anonymous) 2015-03-03 03:49 pm (UTC)(link)
cheating is misogynistic in nature anon

da

(Anonymous) 2015-03-03 05:40 pm (UTC)(link)
except misogyny requires that it's inherently an anti-women subject. cheating isn't gender-specific, anon.

and you're still ignoring everything else the anon you replied to said.

Should have guessed it was a sex scene. They're fucking terrible in just about every way and it's incredibly stupid that they factored them into the plot.

Also I like how you conveniently leave out Rin. As if she had nothing to do with that.

(Anonymous) 2015-03-07 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
women can't be rapists you need a penis for that

not to mention sex in general is a power thing that males force women into being a part of
