Too slow

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

those labels predate the rpanons thread by a literal calendar year, though.and no one's invalidating anything; there were no warnings for the first round of promotions, or any of the rewards since, so the idea of giving a heads up for getting promoted is confusing to me. you can always turn it down if you don't want it. we don't even know if this is an ic shuffle, and i'm willing to bet there's an info post coming up about it soon enough.

only five were promoted so far. each of the five, from what i've seen, have no problems with it and are excited about the promotion. i also know one of the leads who got demoted has no problem with it at all. does that invalidate the communication concerns? no, i don't think it even has anything to do with it. but when the people actually involved aren't worried and are actually happy for the development, all of these anon complaints just makes it look like sour graping, even when that's not the intention. it becomes easy to write off valid complaints like this in this way, because instead of directly addressing the issue with the people who can fix the problem, we just keep commisserating until we've made a mountain out of a molehill while anon. like you said, people have gone to the mods. from the looks of it the mods are trying to help. why not keep doing that?

i'm well aware of how i sound right now but from what's been said on this thread this all seems easily solved by a quick pm to the mods asking what the plans/reasons are, regardless of your team color.

they aren't that old, anon, they pasted them all over everything because they got told they weren't communicating information well during murder plot.

i understand where you are coming from, and i think you understand where i am coming from. but also, i am tired of needing to pm the mods every two seconds for every little thing when it can be easily solved with them just communicating better the first time. does nobody else in the game feel that way?

at the end of the day, you're right, the actual shuffle re: red team mostly concerns the people it affected. its just personally frustrating to read "communicate with your fellow players" repeatedly in the ooc posts and seeing mods not hold themselves to the same standard.

i don't really have a horse in this whole team shuffle race, but i agree that it's pretty disappointing that the mods keep emphasizing how important it is that we communicate with each other and with them, but are all over the place in terms of communicating with us. sometimes they're great about it, and sometimes people get really blindsided. this might just be me, but dagger-mod in particular seems to do the mystery-before-communication thing pretty often. (daggergate comes to mind.)

there's a lot going on right now. shuffling teams is going to create IC consequences and reactions that players are going to need to juggle, regardless of where or how they were shuffled. if the players did this to each other, or if the players did something similar to the mods, there would have been backlash.

i think that is the biggest issue here. the reds that got shuffled or even demoted seemed to be cool with rolling with the IC stuff, but looked like they felt out of the loop on an OOC standpoint. it's hard to know how to react when they're not given information about a relatively big change. and seconding all the mod-player/player-player communication. if the players had done this to each other, it would've been extra upsetting and likely would've been addressed by now.

going to be the devil's advocate here, but you can't really hold mods to the same standard as the rest of the playerbase imo. they're mods. speaking as a former mod, there are things that mods are aware of that the playerbase isn't, and sometimes communicating on the same level as players actually causes more problems than using your mod "authority" directly. sometimes telling players "this is what's gonna happen" is the only way to get anything rolling because of some players who either powergame, or infomod, or pull other headache-y crap that makes it inconvenient for everyone else to play whatever it is that's been set up. and you don't tell your players that because even with valid reasons there's always that one player who wants everything to go their way and will furiously complain wherever they can to get what they want no matter what, so you nip that problem in the bud even if it means a few other players getting confused. you can sort out the confusion, but you can't remedy a player who'll take ten miles if you give them an inch.

........and that was much longer than i intended. tl;dr there's probably a reason for the shuffle, time will tell if it gets cleared up or not.

also adding that it can be done badly, and yes there are mods who abuse it. i don't think this modteam ever has, though, and they've been pretty good despite their missteps. i'm personally not too pressed about it.
