Tits up!

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

i like it. it sounds kind of like what DDD, except with a built in worldhopping mechanic instead of relying on dimension-hopping characters to play taxi driver. when i played it was pretty common for characters to fuck off to someone else's world for however long they wanted to, which i could see happening here too

if i recall from my time in that game, players could choose if they wanted their timeline to be synched up with canonmates or if it was an alternate universe further down the timeline. either way, cool stuff happened. people getting spoiled for their own stories (with permission) was always fun

i would play here. it might not be perfect for every character from every canon, but there's no point in making another game that accommodates every character and player

(i might not join if it was straight up a Stargate AU, though, tbh. those kinds of games always turn me off, unless i'm familiar with the source canon already)

I've never played in DDD, but I've read a few threads in the past that were linked to me. Given the material that inspired the idea, I think I'd lean toward something less silly, but not without room for silliness. Something more like one part humor to three parts action/drama rather than pure crack.

The reason I said it'd probably be easier to just make an AU is because the Stargates have their own canon rules that make time travel relatively cheap and extremely unpredictable. Like... being flung 40 years in the past, or 40,000 years into the future kind of unpredictable. I could steal that part and make it a bug within the game's portals, but the more rules I steal from Stargate, the more it feels like I'm just filing the serial numbers off and saying it's mine. I have nothing against it on principle, but if it goes too far, I may as well use an established system.
