it's especially a problem if you only want f/f or (to a lesser extent) m/m because if there are <20 characters or something there might be no one to play with

yeah, but you're not taking the actual facts of AW into consideration. that game started out with a homestuck mod and a huge homestuck cast. mandatory or not, not everyone is okay playing with an anthro char, particularly ones as potentially hard to play against as homestucks. that, i think was the writing on the wall for the game. yes, they've lessened it now, but it's still thought of as 'the homestuck game', and even with no requirement for smut ac, you still have to play with a very, very limited variety of cr. i could love the game premise to death, but there is little to no point for me to app into a game where i have zero fucks to give about any character/canon.

be the change you want only goes so far when apping in and dropping because of not clicking with the chars in a month or two is likely going to be the result.

i wouldn't call homestucks "anthro"

in regards to the headcanon for troll genitalia? you can't tell me it doesn't border on anthro. it's the same as alien sex with a turian or anything like that. non-human sex with sentient beings generally falls under anthro. it's not just about furries.

an alien race is not an anthropomorphism, that'd be like saying the human race is anthropomorphized monkeys

in rp, particularly when talking about non-human sex, anthro covers a wide range of things that are non-human, including mythical creatures, robots, aliens, and yes, alien trolls. particularly when the genitalia is non-human as well.

like, anyone saying 'i'm open to anthro sex' isn't just saying 'knot me in the ass'. i'm fully aware of what anthropomorphism means, but since you can anthropomorphize a chair or a pencil, it doesn't just limit itself to animals. we are our own species. fauns are their own species. so are minotaurs and turians and homestuck trolls. doesn't make the kink non-anthro just because they're not furry or giant talking zebras.

conversely, you could also use xeno in place of anthro in regards to non-human species, but for rp purposes and when trying to get your point across, saying 'anthro sex' lets people know that your char's junk isn't a humanized penis/vagina.

but in this case xeno is the universally accepted term for trollish homestucks. anthro is almost exclusively furry. definitions on paper =/= actual use, and that is what's used.

none of that negates the fact that anthro or xeno, it's a niche kink that not everyone might be into and that's one of the huge problems with AW.

okay? i've been in multiple sex games, where the terminology is actually relevant, and the distinction was always made that aliens = xeno and furries = anthro. i've never seen it labeled any other way.

this is kind of a pedantic argument regardless though. so long as it's warned for, because not everyone wants anything to do with tentabulge shit, that's what matters.

Never seen anthro used for anything but furries. Aliens have always been xeno.
