Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

fucking stupidity all over this thread, no one goes in to a game thinking "i'm going to stop tagging as soon as i hit 10 comments!"

i have a medical issue that flares up at random, so i always look for games with a very low ac requirement. when i'm feeling good, i easily at least triple the amount of a low ac, but when i'm not feeling good? that easy ac is a fucking godsend. if i have a bad stretch, then it's really, really comforting to know that i'm only required to make 10 comments. it's nice to know that i won't have to go crawling to the mods and begging for an exception, hoping that this won't be the time that they deny me

if you want to play in a high-ac game, that's absolutely fine. but don't go shitting on low-ac games. don't freeze people like me out of a hobby because you think 10-comment acs are worthless, especially if you don't even fucking play in any low-ac games

Uh.

Hiatuses exist for this very reason.

No seriously when you feel a flare-up coming you just go hiatus and that takes care of AC problems all together.

1) when you are having a medical issue, the last thing you want to do is think about RP. and even if you are thinking about it, you might just think 'nah, i can tough it out, i don't need to hiatus' or 'i'll feel better tomorrow, i'll definitely tag then' and then suddenly it's the last week of the month and you haven't made AC yet

2) most games frown on you taking frequent hiatuses, which is what someone with a chronic medical issue would have to do in a game with high AC

3) it's fucking RP. let people look for slow-paced games if they want. jesus christ.

>you might just think 'nah, i can tough it out, i don't need to hiatus' or 'i'll feel better tomorrow, i'll definitely tag then' and then suddenly it's the last week of the month and you haven't made AC yet

exactly this. sometimes i only feel shitty for a couple of days, sometimes i can't get my groove back until two weeks later. i'm not going to call a hiatus for every little blip in my radar. i'd be calling enough hiatuses and even more oops-nevermind-false-alarm un-hiatuses that the mods would be having words with me. it's not something that cripples me every week or anything but it's not something that i like to draw unecessary attention to when i know it'll pass eventually

why should i have to hiatus every time i get a tingle of feeling shitty when i could just instead play in a game where ac is low enough that i could fall back on it if things got bad? i can get by with a bad month if i have to, the mods don't have to worry about babysitting me and my issues, and other players won't have to feel like i'm getting special treatment

it's a win/win/win and idg why anyone would have a problem with that

no one's shitting on low ac games. low ac games are fine. but there aren't a lot, if any, low ac games that are lower than ten fucking comments. ten is pretty much the cut off and they were looking for LESS THAN ten (though apparently we should be able to tell they were just ballparking)

just ask for a fucking low ac game, jfc.

yeah except they are. there are anons saying that if you only make 10 comments a month that you shouldn't be in a game and that you're squatting

most of the anons were saying if you make less than ten comments a month, you shouldn't be in a game because yes, you're squatting.

tbh, i think if you're only making ten a month, you're still squatting. there is no way you can feasibly have any character growth at the ac minimum unless you're literally handwaving EVERYTHING.

Re: +1

that isn't the point. the point isn't that op or anyone else in this thread wants to make ten or less comments a month. it's wanting the lack of pressure to make more than that just in case shit happens

Re: +1

The ~ symbol means approximately/about so it says yes they were ballparking.

Re: +1

they didn't use the ~ symbol. "like <10 comments per month AC"

they are worthless, though. i made the mistake of playing in two and i could never get a thread finished because people would make posts, tag back a few times, and then drop everything because hey, they'd made ac. it was impossible to build any sort of lasting cr because the low ac encouraged flaking and squatting.

that sucks for you but i've played in high ac games and had this exact same problem. i could barely make ac most of the time because of flaking and slow tagging, so it's not the ac that does it, it's the players
