i knew someone who took holidays so personally that it was unreal

she'd get really fucking mad if her birthday wasn't treated as THE. BIGGEST. DEAL by everyone, or if christmas didn't go her way, or if nothing special happened for valentine's

She should be glad people at least remembered her birthday. My friends usually forgot and I've gotten to the point that I don't even bother saying when it is so I don't end up with the inevitable hurt of them forgetting.

it's nothing personal against you, you know. i can't even remember my parents' birthday, so i'm for sure not going to remember yours. if it bothers you so damn much, instead of silently sulking you should say "guess whose birthday it is today!!!" and i'll treat you to lunch or a movie or something. at the very least people will congratulate you if you mention it. don't be a whiny friend-resenting pissbaby about it, we're not walking calendars.
