Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder - Obsessions are unwanted and disturbing thoughts, images, or impulses that suddenly pop into the mind and cause a great deal of anxiety or distress. Compulsions are deliberate behaviours (e.g. washing, checking, ordering) or mental acts (e.g. praying, counting, repeating phrases) that are carried out to reduce the anxiety caused by the obsessions.

So you're taking what is a pattern/habit for me (games/subject lines put in capitalization) and fucking around with it. Am I going to have a panic attack and run screaming fromt he room? No. But it's physically jarring for me to see things 'not how they normally are' all because you think it's cute and funny. Not to mention not being able to read half of it.

the mod will delete the stuff that doesn't have a corrected subthread in less than a day bro can you wait that long? can you go watch a movie or something? jesus

Because they don't always get deleted? lowercase ones will stay up and I have no idea what the mods' policy is on weird font. If it's going to be gone, sure, I can get over it. But a whole post having to see that is going to bug me.

For the record, this falls under Ordering/arranging compulsions.

This category of compulsion involves arranging items in specific ways, such as clothes, books, shoes, etc. For example, you might line up all the clothes in the closet so that they are arranged according to colour, with all the hangers facing in the same direction. Adults with this compulsion will sometimes arrange things until it "feels right". Some will do it to prevent bad things from happening; for example, "If I don't arrange all the books and magazines in the house so that they face east, then someone in my family will die."

I'm particularly habitual about my computer usage and what order my tabs are opened in/what windows are opened in what order on my taskbar. This falls under fucking with that.

that's still not OCD. you're particular about things, that's all, no matter how much you c/p from web md. I keep my tabs in a particular order too. stop trying to be a special snowflake, jfc.

OP is literally copy/pasting from a website. they're a self-diagnosed tumblrina, get a clue.

maybe it's easier to c/p from a website that already has the actual words on it for an actual disorder that's actual than trying to word it themselves.

i don't get why you have such a hateboner for medical text, or ocds.

i don't have a hateboner "for OCDs," just people who self-diagnose that they have OCD just because they like things orderly, jfc

i bet you think monk is a true and accurate depiction of OCD, huh

it's not about 'neat and orderly'. it's about habit and ritual. when things are done a certain way, there are some cases, NOT ALL, that like/have to keep things going in the same type of orderly fashion. having things change from that can be jarring and make things feel off. but it's really nice to see that people have to justify their legitimate diagnosis with actual doctor's notes before people believe it just because they're not going into in depth medical and psychological reasonings of why they're making the comment they did.

i have no idea what monk is. probably not, since media only ever makes hyperbolic representations of disorders.
