that episode of oitnb has proven to me that there are a lot of women out there that don't know their own basic anatomy.

that being said, i used to think the pee hole was at the tip of the clit, like a little mini penis hole.

I don't want to go Full Tumblr about this, but I think it really says a lot about how women's bodies are viewed when the education system/other resources are so reluctant to give us accurate information about simple-but-kind-of-important day to day functions such as urination and menstruation. I want to say the M word, can I say the M word? Misogyny.

It's gross and unacceptable, and it's really upsetting to be in that place where you don't know if something's wrong with you or not because you've been fed bullshit misinformation and lies about your body your entire life. Being 20 years old and not knowing where women urinate from is not a happy place to be, and I can joke about it now but that whole hospital ideal was horrible at the time.

God bless that episode of OITNB though.

i disagree on it being based in misogyny as much as it being how fucking prudish people are. we're so scared of genitals and the idea that acknowledging them will lead to the horror that is pre-marital sex that as little education on them in general is allowed to be taught at all.

That's fair. I'm sure sexism must play in here somewhere at least, since ime people seem to find it at least marginally easier talking about penises than vaginas, but simple prudishness is definitely a huge part of it. Either way, it's so counterproductive for society to be this way. People's health becomes at risk just because we can't get over our collective fear of genitalia? What sense does this make at all.

i disagree, if only because my sex ed class was mostly about how the penis/erections/pregnancy worked and almost nothing about female anatomy that didn't involve having a baby.
