Does my cardigan look okay?

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

random question but do any other anxious anons get the urge to just scratch the hell out of their skin when they start feeling anxious???????

I do, anon. I've found that keeping a pen and paper around to just scribble on gets the urge out of my system safely - it doesn't need to be drawing, but just jagged lines on paper.

i used to claw at my throat

i managed to kick the habit though

not usually but I bite at my hands and arms. sometimes if I'm really distressed by something I'll scratch at my neck/throat like the anon above me (I have some sound sensitivity issues which are what usually drives me to that point)

if you habitually scratch or pick your skin as a coping mechanism for anxiousness/anxiety there's a name for that, I think?

i don't and i'm not even that anxious, it's more of an idle thing for me but i do it more when i get nervous. i scratch as my upper chest the most.

God yes. Like the desire to claw my way out of my own skin. I thought it was just me.

it might be dermatillomania

i had trichotillomania (compulsively pulling out hair) that developed into this, and i still can't kick it. i've literally ruined my scalp.

i have something similar, but it's only on my eyebrows

i have no eyebrows

i don't have any anxiety disorders but whenever i get emotional or bored i'll pick skin off the tip of my nose, off my lips, around my hairline, dig in my ears, or i'll run my fingers through my hair until i find the perfect strands and i'll pull them out one at a time. sometimes i go a long time without doing it and sometimes i do it daily

there's a name for it but idc to ever remember what it is
