Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

The difference is deliberate, anon. I don't like fuck or die games, and would rather build one on a reward system. This is the idea I came up with. But it's also dependent on the powers actually meaning something, so there needs to be an action/adventure plot going on as well for powers to actually be useful and compel characters to want to regain them. I would rather both aspects of the game tied into one another in an interesting and new way, rather than have the sex-toy power regain as something more generic and leaning to more worship of gods or complying to scientists as other sex games have or are doing.

I honestly have no idea what OC you're talking about, and I'm sorry if any of this has ended up seeming similar to them. It wasn't my intention to copy anyone's ideas. The pets would be more like 'pets' in comparison to goldfish or the like, rather than dogs/cats - or perhaps even more like octopuses. And it may be catering to one specific kink, but I wasn't aware it was a kink that was so overly repellent to DWRP crowds as to ruin the game's chances of having any players join at all.

There's an octopus/tentacle oc that's doing pretty well in Ariel, and that'd be who I'm talking about. The pet aspect is the huge red flag problem for me, anon, and I think it might be for some others. Not all, mind you, but some. Goldfish or octopus or not, that's still pretty much bestiality mixed with tentacle kink since you're equating this thing to a pet. People don't/shouldn't fuck their pets, anon. That's the big problem I'm seeing with this as well. It's not that the kink is repellent, but it's not all that common, either. You're either pro-tentacle, anti-tentacle, or apathetic. You'll get the pro-tentacles joining up in a heartbeat, but it'll be strictly for the chance to play out the sex aspect of the game while they ignore everything else. A small minority might join up for the plot, but they'll likely get sick of the fact that the pro-tentaclers are mainly in it for the sex aspect and clique up against them or drop.

What I'm trying to say is that tentacles of any sort are too specific of a niche to try to build a game around when you're wanting it to be 'more than just about this'. Add in the bestial/pet aspect and it's going to squick a lot of people.

If my labelling them a pet is a problem then that can easily be changed to toy. They shouldn't have the same bonds as pet ownership as they'll literally just be a creature in a tank. They don't even need to have faces, to be honest. Through this conversation I am considering that the jello-creature that shapeshifts into different things might be a more open choice, but it will still sit along the same lines that you seem to think are a problem.

The problems of what players might choose to spend their time in game doing are not something I consider problems. I would be designing the game specifically to allow room for focus in one area of another, or crossing over, depending on what players felt like doing. It would have a plot, but it would also be open for sandboxing.

Again, I'm confused on why squicking a lot of people is a problem. If they don't like the game idea, they don't have to join. I don't have aspirations of making the next Amat or anything near as big, and I don't want to make a generic game. I honestly thought the tentacle-monsters was a fun idea that, while kinky, would still appeal to enough people and make the game unique and interesting.
