is the answer actually worth playing or

Yes... sort of.

It really depends on what you want to get out of it. If you want a gameplay challenge? Yes. If you want info about certain characters you don't get in the main canon? Yes, if that character is Junpei or Aigis.

For the storyline as a whole? Watch an lp if you just wanna know what happened cuz the answer as a whole is so frustrating and certain characters need a punch in the throat afterwards

i can agree with this for the most part but i will tack on that i think there's some good insight into yukari's character as well. people shit on her a lot in the answer in particular, and ymmv on how they handled her character, but i enjoyed it a lot myself.

actually, i'd say pretty much everyone has their moment(s). the climax is pretty intense, and you get to see where everyone's priorities lie, how they end up conflicting, and how they all deal with that, which i thought was pretty great.

on the whole, the answer is just a good showcase of how SEES is affected minato's death, both individually and as a group, and how they start to fall apart without him, yet have to find a way to work together anyway because of their situation and being dragged back into fighting shadows. if you were attached to the characters + story, there's a good chance you'll enjoy it, but the gameplay is pretty frustrating as above anon said.

no compendium + hard mode lock makes for a bumpy ride, but for me, it was worth it (and i don't even consider myself that great at video games). once you unlock paulownia mall things get significantly easier, anyway, imo. but no one would judge you for youtubing, if only to get a feel for things and decide for yourself whether you want to play it.
