The whole world smiles with you

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

I know that "don't fully write out stutters and halts" is a common answer, but when I've done it, I've had plenty of people tell me it works well and crit me if I need to dial it back a notch - if you think it would sound wrong not to write it out at all, I say go for it, but invite crit from time to time.

For making it sound natural, though, thinking about how it sounds in your head is important - stuttering is inherently a flow break, sure, but I've read written stutters that turn stuttered sounds into... a little of a weird mouthful. Also, there's a bit of a difference between the way a dashed pause and a pause with ellipses reads. One's more of a dead stop (Wait, I -- ! I was there, too!) and one's a trail-off (I couldn't tell what was going on until... that happened).

Notes for tone help me feel solid, too. ("Yes, but I... [She'll need a few seconds to gather her thoughts here.]", [Why are we even discussing this? FFFFF - ] If that's true, then...")
