how long was your 3rd person sample? i'm worried mine is too long looking at some other people's.

looking at different in game characters apps they seem to be all over the place. how long is too long?

mine is ~900 words. it just feels really lengthy but i don't know if i could cut it down with the way i set mine up.

mine was on the long side. i wouldn't worry about being too long, but being too short

it helps to have introspection on how they are feeling about being asked by the recruiter, i think that as much as anything is what they're looking for

hmm, okay, i definitely think i have stuff about how they're feeling. i wanted my character to get full disclosure so i think that might be why it's so long?

It definitely depends on the character, how you're portraying your recruiter, and the disclosure level. Mine's probably going to get pretty long, too (I'm also going full-disclosure). IMO for this kind of third-person that's going to become game canon you should go as long or as short as you need to convey your character's motivations and reactions to the decision. I've also done a non-disclosure one that was ~600 words because they still need to make up a semi-plausible story in some cases.

Mine was about 1k and it was fine. Go as long or as short as you need to.

it's supposed to be how you were consigned in the first place, which basically makes it equatable to a ficlet. i'd say anywhere from 300 words to 1.5k is a decent range for something like that.
