Shut up

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

did you mean: half this game

they should make it a rule that NPC threads won't count for AC.

i'm mostly buttruffled because i'd love some npc cr, but by the time i get to the posts they're always flooded with the usual suspects piling on en masse

sure it's not a race except when the post gets overwhelmed by the same people who HAVE to be first, the mod gets understandably burnt out and then so much for that plan

so you're not as active as you'd like to be, and people who are more active tag the post before you? is that what you're complainining about?

do you want people to wait a couple of hours for you to tag in?

maybe it would be nice if the players who already have npc cr wouldn't continually swamp them so everyone gets a chance at a thread that won't be dropped due to burnout?

why should they have to? this is such a ridiculous demand

random passerby but it's possible some people in different timezones or on different schedules don't get to a post until hours after it's been flooded and get the short end of the npc stick, so to speak. But while that can really suck, I think that's more an issue to be brought up to the mods running the npcs, rather than asking players to not tag in even though they can. I agree with you, that's a ridiculous notion that will never work anyway.

i don't even think this is an issue to bring to the mods, fellow anon. it's impossible to gauge the "right" moment to make a gamewide post when you have a wide range of timezones to factor in. there are other ways to communicate with the NPCs that aren't network posts too. they respond to player character network posts, for example. all npcs have ic inbox posts that they respond to regularly, they post to the drop logs, one of which will be going up later this month, and i believe they will do closed logs with players, upon request.

i agree it does suck when you get to a network post "late." it's happened to me too, but there's no statute of limitations on when you can post to it, and i've seen the mods respond to latecomers. if that doesn't work, there are other options. i'm baffled that anyone would think the solution to their problem would be to police when players can and cannot respond to NPCs, after they've established CR with them and would logically respond to their posts.

sorry to bombard you with all this info, by the way.

+1
