Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

TL;DR Enable me?

[personal profile] willthaw 2014-05-14 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
The more I play Anna the more addictive she becomes! I'd like to stick her somewhere with a bit more permanence than the occasional meme but there are a lot of games to go through. If I don't have much luck here I will also put her in the next ATP character offering post.

As a heads up, due to real life shenanigans, I might not be able to apply until the end of the month, so hopefully any suggestions have reserves or are open for applications then! Otherwise, any application requirements are fine by me. I'm also cool with tandem apping if someone else from her cast has been eying a particular place and wants to coordinate canon points together.

I've got some preferences, listed below, to help be clear in what I'm looking for. Anon or signed in, feel free to enable at will. Dreamwidth is a big place with a lot of great games.

Thanks in advance! xx

What I'm looking for...

• slow paced or an easy AC
• prose based or at least not 100% action spam based
• game not ending in six or so months
• smaller (small-ish?) games ideal
• no memory loss
• no AU-only settings
• no sex games (mature themes are fine I just don't want sex the fundamental part of play)
• castmates or the possibility of them strongly preferred (she'll tag out like a boss but without people she knows, I think she'd spend a LOT of time missing home, her sister, etc)
• preferably not a terrible culture shock (I'm not throwing her in my home game set in NYC, for example) but depending on game premise this could be flexible
hakodate: he may take you up on it. (Default)

This doesn't fit everything perfectly but it matches up with enough that I'm going to go ahead and throw it your way, especially because prose has been a little harder to find in my RP experience -

[community profile] synodiporia is built around the premise that all of the characters have been rounded up to get thrown into different worlds, where they have to solve some problem to get out and move on to the next one. Sort of like Quantum Leap, Sliders, or Exiles, if any of those ring a bell!

As for how it checks out with your prefs:
- easy AC is in the eye of the beholder, so I'm not sure where you set your bar. It's 30 comments per month, can be split between a number of threads, and the game's pace has been pretty relaxed so far - this AC was adjusted based on player input, so I think it's pretty fair for how the game flows right now.
- format is player choice, but we've had a lot more prose than I see in most games, and most players have been very willing to adjust format if whoever they're threading with has a strong preference!
- just opened, we have no plans to close soon.
- I'd call it smaller now, though the current reserves round is big. We're still kind of in that phase of feeling out how things are going to go, so it's hard to say where this will settle.
- no memory loss/AU required; this is weird to explain but in every world the characters travel to, there is an option (completely opt-in/player choice) to spend that world with your character thinking they belong there and have always lived there. Since it's totally opt-in, you can ignore this aspect completely if you like! (It lasts only for that world, so it can be kind of a neat way to dick around with an AU for a month without having to commit to it full time.)
- not a sex game.
- no cast at the moment, I'm afraid, although I have no idea who among our numbers might be enable-able.
- culture shock will probably vary depending on the world, so you might have it bad one month and not a bit the next - our first month of gameplay was 1930s Brooklyn, and our second, we're now in a medieval fantasy kingdom.

So while I suppose whether this interests you will depend on which of your prefs are the dealbreakers, we might be worth a look! o/

Hi, you tagged me one time and wow you're organized so here I am.

I'm going to go ahead and plug [community profile] maskormenace. We currently have Hans, Elsa, and Kristoff, so... I'm sure we'd love to be rounded off! Let me try to match your preferences!

- AC requires two proofs a month. Proofs include posts, log threads of at least five comments (three by your character), or network threads of at least fifteen comments. I'm not sure how you'd consider the game pace, but I always like to note that I lived in East Asia for a couple of years, in a dreadful timezone that meant I could only tag about once a day, and I rarely had trouble making activity. The vast majority of players are great about tagging for a good, long time to accommodate the pace of others.

- We are a game with a "network," and so that's pretty heavily used. It's pretty avoidable, however, if you don't want to lean on that. With Kristoff, for example, I don't rely on Network threads as much as I do with my other characters. There are numerous open logs posted every month, both for overall game plot and by individual players, and the format with which you tag is usually left to the discretion of the player. I think everybody generally switches back and forth between prose and action spam based on the situation and who they're tagging.

- We have no plans to end, there's no memory loss or AU-ing, and no sex requirement.

- I don't think I'd consider the game small, unfortunately, but you're by no means required to keep up with every aspect of the game and every personal plot going on.

- The game is set in a pseudo-fifties/modern era with some advanced technology. Characters first arrive in Florida and are given the option to locate to three other cities. Any culture shock aspect wouldn't be traumatic, at least! Hans figured out how to google things, and Kristoff is mad that freezers are a thing... That kind of stuff.

Other than that... Everybody gets superpowers with the option of becoming a superhero, so that's kind of niche and may or may not be your thing. I'd be happy to explain anything else further or answer any questions.

We're getting ready to start monthly app cycles in June, but I believe the current app round is open until May 26th.

I take being told I'm organized as a massive compliment. So. Thank you! Also, actually pretty much everything about this game works for me barring the size and I am not against flexing on that since it suits so many other pieces of what I wanted.

Quietly leaves this here.

I'll probably have questions so expect me to pester you in the future.

Awesome. Feel free to pester, by all means. If you do plurk, I'm [plurk.com profile] amyorama. Other than that, PMs are probably best due to the fact that I never turn my instant messengers on.

OH WAIT! We also have a test drive meme that can be used towards your app samples, if you're interested in that.
