Yu Yu Hakusho is a shounen series based on a dude who dies, comes back to life, and proceeds to fight demons to try and defend the human and spirit worlds! It's pretty long-- not, like, Naruto long, but it is over 100 episodes-- but it has some really great characters*, the fights are interesting and rarely drag into oh god they have been fighting for like eight episodes when is this going to be over territory, and I genuinely like the plot in general.

It's also got a lot of things I feel like you don't see a lot in shounen stuff-- everyone has family and how that family treats them shows in how they interact with the world, romances aren't rewards, there's an actual honest-to-god gay couple and they aren't campy-evil even though they're antagonists... It's not perfect but I could watch it forever.

Plus, the dub is a genuinely good and funny localization (I personally find it much, much more entertaining than the official subs), so if you want something you can just listen to and glance up at every now and then, it's a good choice.

* LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT GENKAI. She's very old, short, crude and smokes and kicks the main character's ass and she is glorious. Let me tell you about Kuwabara, who's an ugly combative punk with such strong morals, he'd let someone beat him to a pulp if it meant his friends would be happy. Let me tell you about Atsuko and how she's a deadbeat drunkard and that's not okay but she still loves her kid, so much, but doesn't know how to convey that to her prickly kid and fails him over and over and it's kind of heartbreaking, and let me tell you about Botan and Kurama and Koenma and Sensui and... Let me tell you about how much I love YYH.

good dub and good characters are excellent will give it a try!
