I thought it was a chocolate chip

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

is there any good reason for a job application to be asking if you're transgender and/or if you're gay/lesbian? the job in question isn't for an lgbt organization or anything, just a regular pharmacy

should this be a sign to run far, far away from this job or is there something I'm missing here?

it's a bad bad bad sign imo, though i'll warn you that i haven't worked in a pharmacy.

best case scenario they want to help out the lgbt community by hiring from it

but if that was the case, i doubt they'd ask that way. no one legitimately friendly should be asking you to out yourself on a job app.

if it's a chain pharmacy, google search them with connections to phrases like "values" and see if you can find someone else asking about it online.

either way i wouldn't disclose it. that's really unprofessional that they'd even ask. good luck anon.

what sort of section is it asking in? jobs where i am ask for ethnicity and those questions are more or less in line with that. i'd probably give them a call and enquire though and if they can't give you a straight answer put the application in the bin

Google them. See who they're connected to, previous employees experiences. It sounds dodgy as hell.

i've never had one ask. it seems like a huge red flag, tbh.

yeaaaaah no, that sounds messed up

don't even waste your time

depends if they're having it as a mandatory section you need to fill. a lot of places will ask for gender, marital status, sexuality, ethnicity but aren't allowed (legally) to judge your application by your answers. and because of that they're also not allowed (legally) to make you disclose it.

so if they're just asking, then no, just don't answer and don't worry about it.

if they're demanding an answer then that's a definite sign to run the other way.

thanks for the input everybody! googling the company's stance on lgbt values was a good idea i hadn't thought of. i'll definitely be doing that.
