Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

- His relationship with Edea is exactly as you said. It'd probably be best to approach it as Ringabel thinking of women as conquests but Edea as something more, if that makes sense. He doesn't necessarily dehumanize women - he has standards - but he holds Edea to a higher regard than the women he romances, and even though he disrespects Edea in a similar way, it's hard to say that he'd really want to do the same thing he does with other women to Edea. It's most likely Ringabel would find it strongly dissatisfying. (With who he used to be, of course they're different; Alternis was possessed by hatred. Ringabel is a clean slate for someone whose personality was basically changed entirely by things that went on around him.)

-He'd probably be nervous but layer a veneer of bravado and hope over his doubts, to be honest. Ringabel rarely shows outward nervousness, instead choosing to be a Large Ham at some points. So even if he does worry, nobody would see unless they knew him - and nobody does, seeing as he's the personification of who he might have been, not who he was when he had his memory. The others only strongly catch on after he regains his memory.

- Alternis's face starts his memory regains. That's my personal opinion on it, plus the repetition. He'd probably want to learn the truth and draw his own conclusions, much like he did while in the process of regaining his memory by asking Airy what happened if a crystal was destroyed. He's intelligent.

- Like you said I said, he really only flirts when things are relatively lighthearted. If you wanted to communicate he was more than a philanderer, have him be relatively serious and worried about his friends just after the pull, but settle in soon after. There's a window into the seriousness behind his flirting, but not one that would be long enough to qualify him as OOC. Flirting for Ringabel is something that has no real strings attached, is innately lighthearted, and is generally not something that he ever really takes seriously. If you want my opinion on the matter, just have him flirt casually - like many superheroes/men in fiction do - during downtimes, and otherwise be able to apply himself and be a serious assistance when people need assistance with planning things or otherwise

and that's my ten cents on this

Thanks again! As before, your insight is very helpful. You and the anon below brought up some good points about his flirting. Your points about dehumanizing are especially important, and that's one of the reasons I adore the DeRosa sidequest: it shows that Ringabel has respect for women. Yes, he flirts, and yes he makes remarks about feral bikini women, but it seems like he enjoys more than women's looks. Company, conversation... And I think you're right about Edea. I still distinctly remember the way he clammed up when Edea asked him where he'd take her on a date.

- Do you think those memories would start to resurface eventually, even without ? Either way, I like your comments about him analyzing/drawing conclusions. In an RP setting, I imagine he'd have plenty of time to do just that, once he settled in and accepted that whatever affairs he had going on in Luxendarc are on hold. Think it's within reason for him to take notes on the RP setting/locals/etc a la the in-game journal? It'd be a lot of work, but I think it'd be fun to compile an in-game bestiary, format his CR chart like the character entries, etc. Being plucked from his world might even give a stronger incentive to take notes. A new world not even remotely covered in D's Journal... He'd be walking in blind.

- I think that's a really good compromise. My thoughts then would be to have him inquire first and foremost where his friends are, albeit while masking those worries under that bravado you mentioned. One way I think I could communicate this is through introspection-- a person's outward behavior and internal thoughts don't always match, and with a person like Ringabel, I feel like there's a lot of opportunity to express that.

-I think so, but he'd need prompters, and heavy ones; Ringabel was exposed entirely to Alternis and only really started remembering after what happened with the helmet busting off. His memory is pretty much struck right out of the ballpark in canon, and it takes a strong prompter in the form of that helmet breaking off for him to start remembering who he is.

If you really wanted to, you could justify it as his memories returning over time, rather than having one strong prompter force them to start coming back.

Also, the D's Journal thing is absolutely perfect. I might actually make a CR chart code for that, now! :D

- That sounds good! Ringabel wouldn't ever really act sad if he could help it, memory notwithstanding. So it makes sense that he'd play up the bravado.
