"All the women" means...two? I think that point is being exaggerated a bit, to be honest, because other shows have killed off a lot of women.

Not even arguing either way but trying to defend something by saying others are worse never looks good.

Oh, no, I was saying that I think people are exaggerating how many women have been killed off on this show by lumping it in with the trend other shows have created. Like yeah, I can understand why a Supernatural fan might not want to see another female character die, but if you look at it right now, two major female characters (Abigail, Beverly) have died and one major male character (Gideon) has. If you factor in all the deaths of victims and killers of the week etc, more men have died than women.

I don't know, it seems a bit disingenuous to act like the show has become the Kill Women Power Hour when the total male victims outnumber the female victims, and major female characters who have died outnumber major male characters who have died by one. I think a lot of people hoped that the show would take special care not to kill off female characters because other shows have killed so many, but it's a bit unreasonable to expect one show to write around an unrelated show's failings.

tbh it's not that so much as female characters are getting killed off for really stupid reasons

abigail and beverly i could pass because abigail trusted hannibal and beverly went into murderhouse alone (which was pretty ooc that she wouldn't tell somebody where she was going just in case, even a family member, but whatever), but freddie could've easily stuck around and done shit in the future and she was killed off and eaten in an ooc move for will to show how darkside he's gone

"more men have been killed off than women" doesn't actually account for much when the women's deaths (and storylines in general, margot) are being used to push male development and storylines

just wanted to point out that's a common problem in narratives and it's unfortunate for both genders

men are seen by writers as expendable and can be killed off in droves to fill out statistics, but women are just the opposite, so their deaths tend to have more ~meaning~ and used as plot devices more

i can't think of many examples that didn't have this gender divide in how death is treated and i wish it wasn't like that
