Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

I think I'm falling out of love with my "main canon" of the last couple years. It's actually bumming me out.

For some reason I feel like I should avoid creator/writer interviews from now on.

What happened?

They might be unrelated (not sure, it could just be the passage of time), but the canon is one that a fair amount of people find purely obnoxious. Obviously I'm not one of them and think it genuinely has merits, but this writer really is just annoying.

I made that unintentionally sound more mysterious than it is, didn't I?

Nope. See below.

It sucks, but if you need to retire it don't feel bad about it. Way better than the fad canon hoppers who drop fandoms the moment they aren't the hottest thing around.

i'm the same, i need to stop looking up creator interviews or blogs because they always turn out to be jerks or say things that severely put me off and affect my enjoyment of whatever canon it is so i need to just avoid that stuff altogether... but when i'm really into a canon, i want to look up and read literally everything i can about it because i love it so much. sighs.

Exactly. I want to know, but do I really want to know?

(Anonymous) 2014-05-10 07:49 am (UTC)(link)
No; it's not like it's actually gotten worse, I'm just not as invested as I used to be.

So the good parts don't feel as good, and the bad parts bother me more.
