Oh beautiful, for spacious posts

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

On that note, how do you think battles could be improved? They're almost all handwaved (albeit for understandable reasons). Since Route doesn't do movepool caps, it's easy for players to make their teams ridiculous and maks fairness in fights tricky.

they're not all handwaved! they take a lot of communication between players, but the train plot is an excellent example of battles being played out.

ymmv but i like the battle system how it is. you can battle as much or as little as you (and your cr) want to.

I don't think battles need to be improved. I just think there's two things people need to think about:

They're almost entirely dependent on OOC communication. Talk to the person you're battling and work things out.

Be creative about things. I have level 100s, so I win is boring. But you know what else is equally boring? My level 20 team should beat this high leveled team because I don't want to lose. Look at stuff like the anime for creative (if sometimes ridiculous ideas) instead of stalemating back and forth. So your level 10 Geodude can't take a level 100 Mewtwo in a straight fight. So what? Maybe use Rock Throw to collapse a ceiling on it. Think outside the box. It's more fun that way.
