Oh beautiful, for spacious posts

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

Can the game be saved at this rate? The only thing I can think of is if the mods let out an explosion of plots and shit and... that doesn't seem to be happening.

I know whoever's behind the plurk said something about their dad getting hit by a car, but that's only one of them right?

It does sound like Plat is having some pretty significant RL issues and I don't think its fair to dismiss those or anything but yeah there are 2 other mods who should be stepping up to the plate (or given permission to do so if they don't have it already). Otherwise its hard to say what could be done. Its not like there haven't been plots happening (the virus thing etc) but they're not carrying any sense of momentum. But throwing plots at the wall to see what sticks would probably be my first attempt at a save if it were me.

They've been pushing for player plots, right? Maybe that would help.

Mods can push for player plots all they like, but right now what would a player plot look like? SOL stuff? That one player/character put together a karaoke group. Anything more involved than that is asking to waste a lot of time for little return given the current activity of the game and I don't blame players for putting big player plots on the back burner (they're hard enough to run in an active game).

At this point if I were the mods, I'd be thinking of a plot/event that was very specific and tooled toward the player characters rather than the fleet. It's a small game, so embrace that intimacy and single out your players. People are excited when you take an individual interest in them; make a plot with forward driving narrative, crown a few special snowflakes for the sake of the plot (which isn't a problem if you rotate special snowflakeness to other characters/players in the future etc) and do something specific.

The game's world building is super good, but it doesn't really amount to anything. Right now it's 90% set dressing and 10% anything with purpose. And part of me feels crappy being like 'sorry mods, you gotta do the hard work' when the playerbase isn't really active but also -- sorry mods, it's a fledgling game and they've got to do the hard work to hook people before they'll feel invested enough to sink their own time into it.

Has anyone linked this to the mods yet? This is some good shit they probably need to hear.

Done and done. Since I recently left a comment for a game-wide plot on the suggestions page, I added that link to it.
