Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

well, i'm assuming he has light sensitivity issues.

he hates the lights being on. he typically hangs out in the living room (with the game consoles) and no matter how late/dark it is, he'll keep turning the lights off in there and the kitchen (they're connected). he'll turn the hallway light off if it's on and no one's doing laundry or anything.

if my light's on (my room's closest to the living room and i have no door) he'll ask if i can turn it off (or he'll do it himself if i go to the bathroom for a sec). if someone turns a light on so they can see where they're going to go grab a snack, he gets huffy if you don't turn it back off.

light sensitivity can definitely be part of it. is that the only sensory issue? it doesn't have to be dramatic. things like hating to be touched or getting agitated when there are a lot of conflicting sounds can be indicative too.

i don't think so? i mean the closest thing i can think of is his weird thing with clothes (c&p'd from above)

"- dresses in very basic/comfortable clothing, won't wear anything else (t-shirt and loose pants? at home he tends to take his shirt off and walk around in shorts. sometimes he'll wear blankets/bedsheets like a cloak or something and i'd assume it was just a geeky video game thing... but he's not ashamed to go outside like that when he takes the trash out)"

most people don't wear blanket-poncho-things

it's kind of weird, yeah. i did the blanket cloak thing around that age because having the pressure on my skin calmed me down but it's one of those things where you can't really say for sure if it's a sensory issue. taking everything into account though (especially the bear thing because that is not normal social awkwardness) it sounds like it's worth talking to your parents about and seeing if they will get him evaluated. even if it's not autism there is definitely something going on there that he could receive help for and it sounds like he really really needs it if he's ever going to function normally as an adult.
