Rundown:
rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

now in the right place
(Anonymous) 2014-04-16 04:30 pm (UTC)(link)I wish someone would make this game. But instead of it being mainly about one school, maybe even include the whole city (doesn't have to be a huge one but big enough). There can be different schools running different sectors of the city (Abra Kadabra Academy in the North who is a huge rival against Bibbidy Babiddy Junior High in the West, for example), and some even coming from out of town. You could app adults who are former magical students and/or non-magical people that are affiliated somehow, but there maybe there would be a character cap on them. There could also be normal kids who end up getting caught in the crossfire a lot just because they got mandated to go to the closest school in their district when the government struck down magical/non-magical segregation and started consolidating the school districts to save money. So now you have normal kids in the magic schools and magic kids trying to go along in the schools that used to not have magic at all (that now suddenly have to set up programs to accommodate those magical students so they're really behind the magic-focused schools there).
Fighting the enemy and turning them into your friend is one of my favorite tropes of the magical girl genre, so I'd really like to have some dark side factions in there, too. Then you throw in school rivalries and maybe magical tournaments where the kids face off against each other. Maybe even some intrigue for the big boss that is puppeting things behind the scenes.
Would any of this be fun people to play in? I mean I could also see shrinking the world a bit with maybe handwaving non-school-related daily life things and focusing on what goes on in the school and with the plot. I just know I'd love to play in a game like this. I doubt I could put one together and get it off the ground well, but I would so jump on the app train if someone else ever did.

(Anonymous) 2014-04-18 03:06 am (UTC)(link)I know some people just hate school AUs or think they'll drive people off for being passé or whatever, but I think a school setting with this premise would be plenty for a game by itself, anyway.
Imagine something like: A boarding academy with a prestigious but somewhat murky history, which happens to train magical boys and girls. Depending on whether magic was going to be publicly recognized or not, this could be a big, shady secret (or not), but either way there'd be a catch -- not all of the students recruited turn out to have magical capability. Nevertheless, the school keeps them on as students and even trains them to aid the magical slice of the student body in various support/defensive roles.
So, you'd have some room for Badass Normal-ing in there, but there'd also be tension/confusion between the magical/non-magical portions of the student body. Depending on how light-hearted or dark you wanted the game to be, you could even throw in the suggestion that magic in general/the Academy's goals and methods in particular aren't exactly pure or beneficial to the world at large, so there'd be room for division and conflict within the school itself.
