Way to go, RPanons

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

take your cues from the canon. how often does it come up and under what conditions? do other characters notice/comment on it or is it just sort of glossed over?

also, here's some stuff i experience, which might help you.

synesthesia is basically just sensory overlap, so i'll think of/describe things in those terms. tastes have colors or "states" that aren't quite emotions. like, green has a specific sort of organic flavor, but not all green vegetables will have that flavor. sometimes the air will carry that taste on it. i've eaten things that i can honestly say tasted violent, gentle, despairing, and like November.

if i listen to, say, music, i usually get some kind of elaborate scene playing rather than psychedelic color (which many people with sound -> color synesthesia have described as part of their experience) but very unexpected or loud sounds - as well as certain voices - trigger a sort of "flash" of color that takes a while to fade away. everything will sort of white or red out if someone slams something down and startles me out of deep thought, for example. i make a lot of color associations, though, with people, mood states, letters, numbers, and places. Tuesday is yellow.

so, think of how you'd describe something you can see. now, think of how you'd describe it if you could taste what you're seeing and if what you feel about it had a flavor, sound, or tactile sensation. some of these have made it into the language already. "black mood." "feeling blue." so on and so forth.

this might come up a lot if your character tends to observe things or keep a running inner monologue. as for describing things to others, i try to do it more conventionally, just because i'm kind of sensitive and don't like being laughed at. for rp purposes, maybe pick only a couple of types (sound -> color is the most common form of synesthesia by far) and focus mostly on those? it will help you keep things consistent and avoid the possibility of accusations of special snowflakery.
