Rundown:

rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

Why do you ask this each time? No one is going to out their faves because one: people would get all butthurt and argue over 'OMG NO THEY'RE NOT!' and two: if they're SO GOOD, they'll end up way too busy to play with the oh so kind person that outed them as good.

Why do you have to reply with this comment every single time? Can you not just let people talk about their favorites or let the comment sit blank without immediately stomping in and setting the tone of the entire post by declaring that ~no one will do it~?

Shut the fuck up and let people talk positively if they want, goddamn. People dissing on other people's favorites happens in every game and yet - gasp - they still have active favorites threads. Ariel isn't some special game where the good players need to be coddled and protected.

so start us off anon. why not post your favorites instead of falling for the other anon's shit?

As someone who's expressed the same thing as ayrt before, it's not the same person every time. People ARE hesitant to bring up names because, sadly, a lot of players have been wanked out of the game before. I'd rather my friends, and myself, stay under the radar so I can play in peace.

If you're so hungry to find good people to tag, why can't you just browse through the comms and find them? Or go through AC? AC is actually a great way to stalk on all the threads everyone's been doing.

And if you want positive discussion, how about you post some of your own favorites. It's not hard.

I'm anon so I guess I'll be honest and admit it's because I'm hoping to be namedropped as a favorite someday, not because I'm desperate to find good people to tag.

oh, you baby. are you making AC? do people like tagging you and want to do threads with you? then people like you and your character. don't be so thirsty for possible negative attention, have some confidence.

You could have just namedropped yourself instead of admitting that and then seen if anyone agreed.

I'll also tell you this, anon: if you're relatively new to the game, it's going to take a few months to establish yourself as a quality player who can be relied on to tag back and follow through. This is especially true if you play an obscure character. But people do take notice of good players, and you just have to keep tagging people and keep trying until you can collect a little bubble of other players that you like to tag and who enjoy tagging you back. Ariel is a weird game because very little of RP is spontaneous, most of it is pre-planned weeks ahead of time. So you have to wade through everyone's backlog in order to get noticed. You can do it!

The problem is that even characters that are widely considered popular still have people coming in to dredge up some dumb complaint. No matter how good they might be, lately it's become to norm to rain all over someone's parade just because they happen to disagree.

There are also anons who sit in these threads and are deliberately shitstirring against those they don't like. Yes, wankgate and rpanons have a lot of crossover now, but I still think threads of that nature should be saved for the community as the one that actively bills itself as the one for gossip, not the one intended for actual discussion.

If we're going to have a favorites thread, we need to have a favorites thread like adults, and the past few posts we haven't proven ourselves capable of that.

I looked at all the RPanons threads from now through the beginning of 2014 and people's favorites have been insulted three times total. That's once a month average. Two of those times were people saying "no they suck" and never coming back with more than that, and rightfully getting dismissed by everyone else as grudgewankers. Only once did someone actually bother to argue it.

That's hardly proving ourselves incapable of having a favorites thread like adults.

they are either wonderfully IC or they seem to have a lot of fun with their threads which makes it fun for the other players as well

I can't say that Dawn is IC but reading her threads they look fun.

I don't know anything about Glados but the threads are interesting for those who participate in them.

As long as people are having fun like that I don't mind unlike the ones who are terribly OOC and their threads all suck. That's all that "or" meant. I wasn't about to claim ICness for characters I don't know.
