anons, i recently got a cast at the game i'm in, and as someone who's usually a lone canon warrior it's been great! with one exception.

one of my castmates is kind of clingy, and i get the feeling that they're trying to push me into a ship (never mind that i am already in a ship with my character), and they also have all of these wild headcanons that basically paint their character as The Biggest Badass To Ever Badass and they go on long tirades when our headcanons don't match up with theirs. more and more i get the feeling that they really don't have a good grasp of the canon at all.

also they're kind of a dick to my current ship partner.

there's a bunch of other issues here (including a predilection for wanting to play nothing but angst even when after a certain point, it's really really OOC), and i'm not really sure what to do.

and no, they don't have an HMD nor do they post to the game's HMD

send them crit via a sock and a pm on things that have happened in public, to keep them from assuming it's you/your shipmate/other castmembers. either they take the crit gracefully and everything gets better, or they have a tittybaby meltdown that justifies you deciding to back away from them slowly.

alternatively, you can risk the grudgewank by talking to them to their face about your issues with them OOC. if it goes south, make sure to screencap it all and go to the mods under the umbrella of "castmate does not respect my personal boundaries and is excessively rude" in case anything gets worse. that will give you established proof and communication with the mods and they can step in more easily.

Sometimes it feels very weird to realize a lot of my RP partners are older than I am (18). Everyone I've met has been amazingly kind and friendly and we have amazing threads... But I realize a lot of the community has this negative view on my age group so sometimes I feel weird bringing up my age in plurk/ooc convos of it ever comes up or seem relevant

Anons, what do you think of the age range that exists in the community? Do you feel biased towards rping with people around a particular age? How about your opinion of the person changing after finding out their age?

i think it's really fucking stupid to judge a younger person for pretending to be fictional characters on the internet especially when back on lj the average age WAS the teen range

the only reason my opinion would change of someone's age would be if they were younger than 18 and i had smutted with them and they lied about their age but i don't rp smut anymore so

how do you guys deal with family members that completely deny ever having done or said shitty things

not even just saying that it wasn't bad or that they had reasons, but actually flipping things around to make you seem like the person that fucked up, or lying about the details, or insinuating that your memory is shitty/you're just imagining things (when there's concrete evidence that you aren't)

my mom was like that and i basically just wrote her off. when she started to rant about stuff she said i did that she did or out and out lied about things, i'd just leave. i caught her in it once when i tried to get her to remember the time i got my head run over by kids on bikes when i was three and i was like 'you remember when we had to go to the doctors and i got like, 30 stitches?' and she denied it up and down until she was blue in the face. she had the same doctor years later and i happened to be at the office picking her up from an appointment and i was like, 'hey, brian, you remember that time when i was 3 and you had to stitch up my head?' and he was 'yeah, i remember that' and my mom didn't say shit.

she just picked something else to twist around.

some people lie to themselves until they believe it. just don't bother trying to change their mind or expect them to realize it. it's a mental thing.
