What the heckie?

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

I would call it as medium as medium can be in comparison to other games of its size or larger. It's not as fast-paced as some of the bigger ones and posts aren't super-frequent, but I find a lot of people tag every day. I know this isn't the most helpful answer, but I would seriously check either the calendar for post frequency (event is usually a little past mid-month onward and apps are processed the first 8 days of a month) of posts. It's been slower the past 2-3 months because of all the holidays and school junk. A lot of people are on hiatus or preparing to be because of school right now.

Either way, I hope you find something that works for you! If not HH then somewhere else. :)

to the anons below and above

I'm actually looking into HH too, because I heard it was slow and I can only really do slower games atm, but recently a friend who plays there got anonymous crit for being absent and said crit complained that "holly heights isn't a slow game" or something like that

would you say the attitude toward its pace varies, or is anon just overinvested?

I want to play there with a good friend of mine, but said friend and I really need a medium/slow game.

I would look at the comms and see for yourself.

If it was the Athena player, the problem wasn't being slow but starting a ton of things and dropping all of them for months on end. If you look at her tag she responds once or twice then drops everything. It has nothing to do with speed and everything to do with her being a flaky squatter.

This game is slower than say StE but it isn't a "slow" game by any means. It can be accommodating to some slower players but if you really want something slow, you need to be looking at much smaller games, games with day ratios, or be museboxing.

Slower than StE is around what I am looking for.

I can manage that, and the characters we're playing are pretty even-paced in behaviour (at least at first), it's just something that requires a little working up to.

I think if you aren't sure, you might want to stalk some and then give it a shot. Even if it isn't ideal you can adjust. I personally have people I tag with that don't reply for a day or two or reply regularly. Some that tag multiple times a day, some that get one or two in a day, others that won't tag for a few days and boomerang and then will come back in another few days.

The game has a lot of really varied tagging styles and most are happy to backtag so long as you aren't deadweight, you don't flake out while visibly being online constantly and tagging at a few other games, etc.

Also it tends to be a bit busier during events, which come a little past midmonth onward and the beginning of the month. The last month and this one aren't really indicative of pace since there have been a lot of hiatuses for school and illness.
