Unfunny wanky stereotypes

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.

antisocial characters

most of us have probably played them all at some point or another so hopefully some of you have advice out there. what do you do when you play a character that isn't really someone who likes to talk to or be around other people, and are generally a bit grouchy? it's not really conducive to gameplay or much CR. any tips on making them branch out without it feeling too forced?

I just remember that even antisocial characters have to go places and do things, so I try to tag out and make them be doing things in the same place and time as other characters.

do some ooc planning so your character interacts with people for logical reasons, or at least "coincidentally" runs into people that they might have interesting cr with, instead of just tagging around in open logs (which works best for social characters). embrace negative cr - if social situations annoy or overstimulate your character, have them be grouchy. if there's something that really pisses your character off, you can get more active cr out of that. grouchy antisocial characters are actually a lot of fun to play.

apathetic antisocial characters are much harder to work with. they seem to work best in fiction when they're part of a duo with a more outgoing character, but that doesn't always work in dwrp.

If it's a setting allowed or they canonically have jobs that force them to interact with people (I have a guy who works a waiter despite being a prickly sort) - give them a job where they have to interact with people.
