Rundown:
rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.
Rules:
Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

PETS

(Anonymous) 2014-02-28 05:51 pm (UTC)(link)and i have one dog, joey, named after joey tribiani from friends cause he's cute and so SO dumb. nicknames are joe, job (like the bibilical name or arrested development), josephina, kujo, j-dog, and a lot of variations on big dumb idiot.

(Anonymous) 2014-02-28 06:24 pm (UTC)(link)Then we have three dogs: Sera, Sophie, and Poppy. Sera's name is short for Seranade; the person we got her from named her that and my sister wanted to keep it. Her nicknames are Bob (idek) and Lion Cub. My mom suggested Sophie's name as Sofie, but i liked the "ph" spelling better. We sometimes call her Boulder because she will sometimes plant her feet and refuse to move during walks, and she's strong so she's hard to move when she does that. I named Poppy, but we also call her Lucy so much that it's practically a second name. I don't remember how that came about.
We also have a tortoise, a horse, and seven birds, but I've probably tl;dred enough already.

(Anonymous) 2014-02-28 06:52 pm (UTC)(link)there's a family tradition of naming pets after musicals or musicians (mom and her sisters had poms named Don Quixote, Dulcenea, and Sancho Panza as kids, my aunts currently have Lola (Damn Yankees) and Eliza Doolittle (My Fair Lady), cats name Winnifred and dogs named Mahler, things like that) so when we got a half-sheltie it seemed like a fairly obvious name to us, because we are all dorks :)
Re: PETS
(Anonymous) 2014-02-28 06:56 pm (UTC)(link)I didn't name him because we got him from the shelter and he already knew his name, but we keep giving him new names and he learn them really quickly because he's a weirdo
so we usually call him pumpkin, I have no idea why. because he's pretty orange? I don't know why I started doing this. recently we started calling him "bumby" and I also have no idea where this came from. a corruption of bunny because he bunny hops up stairs? I don't know

Re: PETS
(Anonymous) 2014-02-28 10:08 pm (UTC)(link)and japaneseand the only other name that came to mind was asuka. i didn't want to be that dog owner/weeaboo who says "the u is silent!" though. i thought about naming her lucy too (after my grandma and one of my favorite bands, hungry lucy) but i didn't think it would fit so i gave her lucille as a middle name instead.it fits her a lot in meaning but not so much with the character. it means "autumn" in japanese and she likes to chase leaves blowing in the wind. she's also an autumn baby.

(Anonymous) 2014-02-28 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)Also a cat - ginger-point Siamese and tabby shorthair mix named Westley. Adopted as an apparently relaxed shelter cat named Snowball, renamed Hannibal. When he started showing wild and growly-playful tendencies, my family half-jokingly wondered if renaming him once more would happen to mellow him out. Coincidentally, it seemed he did start calming down around then.
Re: PETS
(Anonymous) 2014-03-01 02:40 am (UTC)(link)Our goldfish are named Huey, Dewey, and Louie, because we got the three of them at the big time, Carrot Top and Mountain Dew, because one had a splash of bright orange color on his head and the other was completely pale white, The Big Meanie, since he bites the other fish, and Beaker. There used to be a lot more, including a Professor Honeydew, but they died.
Our dogs were named Lindy Lou and Nevada Sue. Lindy was named for Charles Lindbergh and Nevada after the Sierra Nevada mountains. Lou and Sue were added because they rhymed.
Lastly, our newest addition is a cat named Loki. We wanted a regal, old-fashioned sort of name, and after going through a lot of historical, Shakespearean, and mythological names, we settled on Loki, because he's black with green eyes and very mischievous, so he looks a little like the Tom Hiddleston version.
