Would anyone be interested in a game based on Ar Tonelico? I'm thinking of an AU where there's a fourth tower so that people don't bump into canon issues, and it would take place in the future of the games.

Things are kind of messy, but here's what I've got down so far:

- Characters are drawn in by some sort of Song Magic intended to draw power from... somewhere that accidentally breaches dimensions.

- Female characters can possibly become Reyvateils in a sense; the song server might confuse them with Beta Reyvateils in the style of 3rd Generation Reyvateils. However, this creates a problem in the form of Extract Hymns (the plain old EXEC_ type hymns instead of EXEC_HYMME, which is Song Magic). Since they don't have the proper authentication (Hymn Code), they can't use them... which limits possibilities greatly unless I can finagle with some things.

- If people want a more direct route of playing Reyvateils, I might allow an AU option where the characters were actually born and raised as Reyvateils or other characters in the setting.

- Death is not cheap; OCs are allowed.

...Thaaaaat's kind of all I've got right now. Any input or feedback would be appreciated.

(By the way, for those who don't know the series that well, Reyvateils are basically beings who can use magic through singing.)

i love the concept of ar tonelico so much so i'd be down with this in a heartbeat! i don't have much advice and such to add honestly, but i do think if characters want to play reyvateils, the only option ought to just be the au option. allowing characters to app as one but in a limited sense doesn't seem like it would be as much fun to rp... unless it was something of a plot point, and with a lot of working things out like you said.

Good to hear! I'm trying to figure out how to circumvent the "you need a Hymn Code to use Extract Hymns" thing, so hopefully that won't be an issue. Then again, the "only females can be Reyvateils" limitation is kind of an issue in itself.

yeah i was thinking about how that's really limiting as well... maybe it could be another error from the song server? a horrible, awful and completely canon-breaking error i guess but hey it's rp there's nothing wrong in bending the rules a little.

actually, how would you handle it if a lot of people wanted to app characters as reyvateils? would you put a limit on the number of them or just let it be?

It's been a while but, if they would become Reyvateils because they would get confused with a Beta, wouldn't they automatically have the same Code as that Beta, thus being able to extract?

man, I like a lot of AT's concept and music, just don't like the dumb fanservice in the games.
